Today we made a stop at Sam's to pick up a few things and lo and behold they had this very item as a "One Time Buy" on the shelf. I looked at it and thought, "do I really need it?" Well, no I don't NEED it but it would be nice to have as it's not as tall as the traditional oval or round styles. Then I got to talking with a customer who had one in her basket. She, like myself, is a collector of all things Crock-Pot. We had the same issue of pondering whether we needed it or not. As we discussed the appliance I decided I was going to go ahead and get it. While I would love to have the red (as it would match my existing red oval) all they had were purple and one black. I decided on black....but it's more of a grey color rather than a deep black shade. This is fine with me as it compliments both my red & my older green ivy pattern Crock-Pots. The other bonus was that Sam's was selling the appliance for $34.97! That's a good size savings in books.
Tonight I am going to start a pan of ribs with it. I am thinking that the fact that it is wider in size, I won't have to layer my ribs as deep as I usually do. I also want to try it out for making an overnight hash brown breakfast casserole. I think I am going to like the idea of being able to make a dump cake in it and have it turn out more like a traditional rectangular cake & not so thick in height.
