Neti Anyone?

Hubby and I were talking the other day about the Neti Pot. He said a co-worker used it and really liked the way it worked. So today while out market shopping I decided to pick one up. With all the junk in the air and allergies running a muck in the Spring, I figured now was as good a time as any to give it try. So a test run may be in order for this week. I'll let you know what we think of it after we try it out. In the mean time, if you have used one before, feel free to share your thoughts and comments.

***Update: So tonight I tried out the Neti pot. I wasn't congested or stopped up before using it, but after I did the rinse in both nostrils...I can breathe much better now. It's funny how something so simple can really help release the gunk and cause you to breathe better than you have in a long time....at least for me that is. I did have a little trouble getting my head tilted just right so that the water flowed out of my opposite nostril and not into my throat but once I got the hang of it...it was smooth pouring! So my candid review...try it, you'll love the results.

Yes~they really work. I have seasonal allergies so I use it then and it works really well. Dr. Oz said it is just a wise thing to clean our sinuses~I guess when you think about he is right!

It works really well, just be sure you add the right amount of salt...speaking from experience here;) It takes a few times to get the right angle but it does work

Oh I use one! I recently posted about it on 12/29 at the My New 30 blog when I was fighting a bad flu if you'd like to go read about it. I posted a video too showing how to use it. It works best when you use it regularly of course, but even then it really helped with the horrible congestion I had when I was sick. You would not believe the gunk that came out, ugh. Don't use tap water - use filtered water, and start off with a lower amount of non-iodized salt, like 1/4 teaspoon and work your way up to 1/2 teaspoon if you need to. It takes a little practice to get it right but I love it!

I've been doing sinus rinses now for about 2 years. They have helped in controlling my allergies, as well as helping to reduce the number of times I get colds throughout the year. I used to get sinus infections twice a year, which I used to have to take anitbiotics to clear the infection up with. Since doing the sinus rinses, I have not had one sinus infection! so, yeah, I'm pretty much an advocate for doing rinses lol .

There is another type of sinus rinse bottle, I have one from the company Neti-Med. It's like a squirt bottle. You squeeze the bottle, and force the rinse up through your sinuses, rather then having the gravity flow of water go through your sinuses. This type of bottle works well when you are really stuffed up. It pushes everything out. I do find it too harsh to use on days when I only need to rinse my sinuses, but works wonderfully when I have a head cold.

here's a link to the Nedi Med bottle..

Enjoy breathing easier with help from the Nedi-Pot :D

I was going to say I've never used it but have heard nothing but good about it. I wake up with a stuffy nose a lot in the wintertime so I probably need to pick one up - I never think of it when it's daytime though and I'm at a store. If Walgreen's could deliver around 10 p.m., I'll be the first to call! ha ha

We too use a neti pot and have had great success with it. The neti pot has emliminated our need for sinus medications. We love that we've found something that doesn't "drug" us up anytime we have allergy flare-ups or colds. Even though we like the neti pot, I have met others who don't care for it at all.

My dad uses it...and gets great results from it! :) I have Hypothyroidism, so I can't be using sinus medications all the time now. :( My dad had me try his pot out the other night...and I had the best night's sleep ever! :D It felt so good not to be all congested! :D He's going to get me my own as soon as we can afford it. ;)

Blessings!

Isn't it wonderful? I use something called NasoPure (works pretty much the same as the Neti). I've thought about buying a second one to pack with me to work - the air is so dry there! People who don't use this don't know what they're missing :) Happy Neti-ing! -Tammy
