Saturday Wrap-Up

For something different today, my Mother & I went to the mall to browse around. Neither of us were looking to buy anything until we walked into Williams Sonoma and saw this beauty...

It's the Kitchenaid 90th anniversary stand mixer with glass bowl. Oh, let me tell you...the photo does not do it justice. The color is not just red, it's candy apple red & it is a gorgeous color!! The mixing bowl is heavy duty and holds up to 12 cups. That's pretty roomy. As an early Christmas gift to herself, Mom picked this little beauty up for herself. I am so thrilled for her. I have a white Kitchenaid stand mixer that I have had for almost 11 years now and I love it. So I know Mom will enjoy her mixer too.

Upon browsing the cookbook section of another store I happened upon two books that I could not pass up...

The Red Hat Society cookbook is a huge compilation of recipes from various Red Hat groups throughout the 50 states. It normally retails for $24.99 but I got it $5.99!

I have been wanting Jan Karon's Mitford Cookbook & Kitchen Reader for years now but just couldn't bring myself to pay the $29.99 asking price on it. Well, today it was marked $5.99 but there was a sale for buy 1 book & get the 2nd for 50% off. So I was able to pick this up for $2.99! That's right $2.99!!! So I got 2 books that would have cost me $54.98, but instead only paid $8.98 plus tax. That's what I call a super bargain. Merry early Christmas to me!! *grin*

Oh!!! that kitchen aid mixer is a beauty...I have a white one and it is about 25 years old...maybe older...It was my moms and she taught me how to bake with it..She made homemade bread with hers..When she passed away I wanted it because I remember all the things she taught me with it..I just bought a red kitchen aide hand mixer and I love it..Your mom will enjoy it..

That is a cookbook bargain indeed, but you know... I wonder if mom didn't maybe pick up that mixer for somebody else's Christmas present?? That'd be nice!! I have an older white one myself, and though I'm sure a red mixer would look odd in my kitchen, I'd sure love to have this beauty too. They aren't cheap tho.

Have a great Sunday!

There is nothin' like my handy dandy Kitchen Aid mixer! I got mine at a tag sale, brand new, still in the box, for $75. The gal had won it on a game show and didn't need it! Your mom will love hers! And what a cheery color!

You are one great shopper - isn't it the best feeling getting GREAT deals??? We finally got a Kitchenaid mixer two years ago and it's worth every penny. Well, it weighs 2 tons, but besides that, it's WONDERFUL!! I'm so happy for you and for your mom on your good finds - have a good week ~ ♥

When I kept the kitchen, a hand mixer was sufficient. When Beloved Husband retired and took over cooking, a marvelous Kitchenaid miraculously appeared and has graced our meals with its presence ever since. Well worth making one a part of the family. And the deal you got on those cookbooks will provide joy for years to come. Well done!
