Sadie & Roman

It seemed like just yesterday that the halls of Sadie's mind were once again visited. Each time she looks at the images on the walls of her thought life, she is painfully reminded of the past. These images have been allowed to define not only who she was then, but it has molded her into the Sadie she is today. Oh how she hates to walk through these corridors, but as usual she awakes to new day and feels as if she must walk down them again. If she misses one day of fellowship with that which cuts to the very core of her soul & does not awaken it each day, those feelings might slowly loose their hold on her and the chains of the past will fall away. No, this can't happen. She must hold tight to these memories. So as it is with each passing day, Sadie grows more insecure in herself. Her relationships suffer, she is filled with resentment and unforgiveness. No matter what good happens in her life, the thoughts of a final negative outcome are consistently looming over her. Sadie's days are filled with thoughts and desires of revenge, anger, offense and self pity. Anyone she befriends is quickly taken by the hand and given the grand tour of her corridor of her imagery. She ends the tour with a gift for the other person...the gift of her personal offense. Some choose to take it and run with it and some leave it for the next guest. At the end of the day, Sadie goes back to her empty home and pines away at what her future will never be because of what her past is to her present.

Roman is a hard working man who diligently works to care for his family. He always wears a smile and has nothing but good to say to/about others. He is such a caring man who literally would give you the shirt off his back. He has everything in life, or so others would say. But it hasn't always been this way for him. You see when Roman was a child he was placed in a position that no child should ever be put in. The details of the matter are heart wrenching. It cut him to the very core. Daily he is given access to the hall of memories from the past that just beg to be visited. Instead of pulling up a seat in the theater of his past, he cast those thoughts aside and chooses instead to focus on the present and his future. He loves his family and the life he has made for himself. He may be dog tired when he wakes to yet another long day of work but he always walks around with a smile on his face and joy in his heart. When the day draws to a close, the same joy and smile can found. Does he have reason to be resentful, angry and even vengeful of things from his past. Most certainly he does! However, he chooses to not let the things of the past or the person(s) that inflicted such pain on him control and define who he is today.

Both Sadie and Roman have backgrounds that were less than ideal for a child to grow up in, and although they have never met each other, they both were presented with an opportunity along their way. They were both were given the opportunity to meet JESUS and have HIM become LORD of their lives, that includes the past, present and future. As a child Roman accepted CHRIST and lived his best for HIM. Yes, Roman was human and more times than he cares to admit, he stumbled and failed the LORD. But he always came back in a spirit of true repentance and knew that the LORD still loved him and would forgive him. Now Roman didn't continue in his sin or back sliden state...no, he pressed in to the things of GOD and the LORD has been working in and through Roman ever since.

Sadie also met the LORD. She is a good person deep down and when she is not allowing the past to rule her present, she is one of the most caring people you could come across. But she allows her carnal self to override the things of GOD and lives for the world. Not just in her thought life but in her lifestyle. She thinks nothing of having premarital sexual relations. The thought of having a good time and drink (much harder than root beer I might add) is a normal occurrence that need no second thought on, at least in her mind's eye. You never know what may come out her mouth at any given time so you better cover your ears. In light of her past, she firmly feels she is justified in her hostile feelings towards those from her past and it often times is reflected onto those of her present. But in all this, you know what? If you ask Sadie if she is a born again Christian, she will adamantly and firmly tell you, "Why certainly yes I am! I met JESUS when I was a child." What she fails to realize is that yes, she met JESUS when she was a little girl, but that was the last time she met HIM or even talked to HIM. But to her a once in a lifetime meeting is all she needs for the rest of her days.

W
hen you look at the parallel between Sadie and Roman's lives, there are several similarities but the end result is totally opposite from each other. If we look much closer we might even see some similarities in their lives to that in our own. We all have had things in our past, or something we might be going through currently that are less than desirable circumstances that were beyond our control. However, how we handle them now is in our control. We can choose to do things the worlds way, by becoming bitter, resentful, emotionally spent individuals or we can look to the One that can take that pain and hurt from us and replace it with true love that will stand the test of time. A love that passes all understanding and can ultimately over ride the carnal feelings we have and replace them with the fruits of the spirit. Galatians 5:22-23a "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance..."

When we allow JESUS to come into our lives and into our hearts we are exactly that...born again! II Corinthians 5:17 explains this so clearly for us..."Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." With knowledge that this is true, then why would I want to wallow in my past and allow it to dictate my feelings of today? I wouldn't. I would want the fresh new things that life in the LORD will bring me. Deuteronomy 30:19-20 "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."

If you want this new life then simply allow JESUS into your heart and life. HE is here waiting for you. HE wants to meet with you, not just once in your lifetime, but to walk with you daily in fellowship. Romans 10:9-11,13 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed...For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Just as the LORD changed Roman's life, HE can and wants to do it for you as well. The choice is yours to stay a Sadie or become transformed like Roman.

If you would like to make JESUS LORD of your life, all you have to do is say a simply prayer like this.."LORD JESUS, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen" It's really that easy to become a born again Christian. But don't keep your life hidden, tell others that you have accepted CHRIST. Let your life be a testimony to others. If you want, you can even tell me. I'd love to hear from you. Just drop me an email; just click on the "email me" icon on the left hand side of my blog. One you make this life changing decision, begin each day in the Word of GOD. Let it speak to you. after all, each word is inspired by GOD and are true and living words that speak straight to our spirit. You'll also want to get planted in the House of the LORD. Not just any Church either but one that stands for everything the Bible says and allows the LORD and the Holy Spirit to freely flow. There are way too many "feel good, politically correct" Churches out there so be very careful. Pray about it and GOD will show the right place HE wants you.

It's a new season, it's a new day.
A fresh anointing is flowing my way.
It's a season of power and prosperity.
It's a new season coming to me.

The devil's time is up no longer can he bother me,
‘cause the Creator of the universe He fathers me,
and it's transferable my children's children shall be free;
it's a new season (it's a new season).

If you don't know by now, you need to know it's jubilee,
where debts are cancel and your children walk in victory.
It's so available to you right now just taste and see,
it's a new season (it's a new season).

The new millennium presents a new horizon,
and no greater time for us to make a choice and take a stand.
All that we need, is resting in His hands;
it's a new season (it's a new season).

All that was stolen is returned to you a hundred fold,
Tried in the fire but you're coming out gold.
Cling to His hand,
yes, to every promise take a hold;
it's a new season (it's a new season)

It's a new season coming to me.
