The Fruits Of Our Labor ~ Indoor & Out

Today was one of those days where I was finally able to catch up on my home keeping & boy was it nice. I managed to get the laundry room completely reorganized, which in my opinion was in need of a good once over ~ Hubby says it was fine before but has admitted that he thought it looked really nice now.

Then I moved to the kitchen. That took the majority of my time. I scrubbed, swept, vacuumed and steam cleaned everything I could get a my hands on. With family & friends visiting the past few weeks, rainy weather that of course allows for dirty shoes to be traipsed in and of course your everyday messes. I knew it was in need of a good sprucing up, but I guess it was in need more than I thought because Hubby has remarked over and over at how pretty the room looks. I did change things around a bit so that helped to make it a little more fresh looking.

The living room got it's once over as well as the dining room. Everything in there is crisp and clean. Oh how great it feels to sit down and just admire how nice things look. I still need to get the bedrooms and bathrooms but that will be Saturday most likely.

For a little relaxation after dinner tonight Hubby & I went out to the garden and did a little harvesting. Here's what we got...yellow squash, zucchini, jalapenos, green & red bell pepper, and a few strawberries.

Now it's time to curl up on the sofa with my favorite blanket and watch some t.v. with Hubby. By the sound of things, I have a feeling we'll be watching "The Deadliest Catch." It's not my favorite but what can you do when he has full control of the remote. *grin* Have a wonderful evening everyone!

What a wonderful day - well, with the exception of the tv show. :) But, short of that, sounds like you had a perfectly productive day. Good for you!

My adult sons love that t.v. program. I think it's because my own father spent 17 years fishing in Alaska's Bearing Sea ... it's help them understand their Grandpa's rough and tough attitude - "no crying or whining alowed, now get to work".

Your veggies look so yummy ... I know you guys must be enjoying every bite!

Oh, well! It gave me a chance to make rhubarb jam.

Rhubarb jam...I am so intrigued. I have never tried rhubarb before but want to so bad. Hubby doesn't care for it so he says he won't try anything with it in it.

Oh, rhubarb is awful alone! Sour and stringy! BUT, if you cut the reddest stalks, prepare them similarly to celery. Cut the large stalks down the middle, pull the strings off, and just dice the rhubarb into pieces.
This is what I do next:
To make about six cups of jam (about three pints), dice five cups of rhubarb into a plastic bowl with a lid. Sprinkle 4 cups sugar over all, put the lid on and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, cook and stir until soft and mushy. Remove from heat and stir in a six ounce box of strawberry jello until dissolved.
Jar that sweet nectar up in your three pint jars, put the lids on and seal as in canning. (Hot bath)

Hubby will not believe it's rhubarb! And while we're talking rhubarb, try a rhubarb cake!

That stuff reproduces profusely once it's planted!

Try it! You'll like it!
