From The Heart Of Our Garden

During the overnight hours our extended area was hit by a massive rainstorm. Many streets in nearby areas were flooded, cars stranded, feeder roads impassible at points. It was ugly to say the least. Thankfully the LORD continued to keep our home and family safe, as usual. Thank YOU FATHER!

This morning I went out to check on the garden and see how it fared the weather. We pray over our garden daily so we knew in our heart of hearts that the LORD had protected it. As I went out to survey things, I couldn't get over how well everything is doing. Each day we have new growth on everything. Wow, GOD is certainly blessing our crops.

Deuteronomy 28:1-9 "And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways."

While out there, I saw several of our herbs were ready to be gleaned so I took out my harvesting basket and garden sheers. Before I knew it, I had a bountiful harvest ready to be taken to the family meal table. Here's a peek at what I gathered today...

Jalapeno peppers ~~~ Stevia

Basil ~~~ Red Sails Lettuce

Dill ~~~ Sage

Rosemary ~~~ Cilantro


Everything has been rinsed and is patiently awaiting to be utilized. Tonight we are having chicken so the sage will certainly be used in that. I have a few tomatoes from the store that the jalapenos and cilantro will make a nice addition to when I make up a small batch of homemade salsa. I found a recipe for herb bread that sounded absolutely delicious, so a few of the basil & rosemary leaves will go to that treat. As for the stevia, I am going to make a simple syrup with it to add to my iced tea. It never ceases to amaze me at how much you can do in the kitchen. Cooking and creating in the kitchen is so much fun!
