Planning Ahead - It's Never To Early To Start

There's only 302 days left until Christmas 2010...don't let it catch you off guard. Now is the time to start looking for those end of season bargains; they make great gifts and don't break the bank. Start saving now...even the smallest amount that you can set aside will add up to a nice little nest egg come December. Remember, holidays are meant to spent WITH your family and friends, not fretting over how your going to pay for it all.

What a great exhortation! :) I shop year 'round when I find that "just right" something or other. AND I set aside some $$ each month in the budget for gifts...you are right ~ don't want it to be something you have to pay for for months after the season is behind you. On the other hand, now is a great time to be planning what to make if you are going to give homemade items. Waaay less stressful to do these things in advance. :)

Blessings,
Camille

Other holidays through the year can help you with Christmas. For instance, you can probably find some really cute stuffed animals on the Valentine's Clearance rack. As long as they don't specifically say "Happy Valentine's Day," they'd make a cute gift for a child. Also keep you eyes out for anything that is plain red, like ribbon--you can use it for several holidays.
And after Easter, be sure to check for those overpriced pre-made (and cheesy) baskets to go on sale. I'll buy them at 75% off but sometimes I'm lucky enough to find them at 90% off. In one basket (for which I paid 99 cents) I got a jumprope and a nice ball.

I think I'm ahead of the game. It's my job to design the wood work Beloved Husband does for Christmas, and we have a working design already! Now, if we can just get them made by Dec. 20 for mailiing...
