My Moment To Exhale

Yesterday evening Hubby helped me pack up all the CHRISTmas trees & decorations and put them back in the attic. It was a good day, but I am so glad that it's over. Now we can finally rest. Do you ever notice after taking down the decorations that it seems somehow that your home looks so much bigger? I guess it's just one of those subconscious things for me...wanting the house back in order and feeling closed in with all the extra stuff out. So once it all comes down, the feeling that you can once again breathe just puts a fresh perspective on things.

It's funny when you stop and think about it...we spend hours decorating the house so that it will look and feel festive. No matter how hard we try to de-stress the season, we still find ourselves rushing to and fro...there's Church events, town parades, children's activities...the list goes on, and we feel as if we have to fit it all in. Then we expend our time, energy and finances to get those gifts either made or bought...only to have some open them and look at it with the same grimace each year that clearly says, "g-r-e-a-t...another thing for me to re-gift! This gift really stinks." It wouldn't matter if you gave that person a million dollars, they would still find something wrong with it. What ever happened to old fashioned manners that taught no matter if you like it or not, appreciate it and respect the fact that they didn't have to give you anything!?! Oh well, I digress.

Then there's the fun of rushing here and there to see this person or that person on CHRISTmas day. Instead of being able to just enjoy the day and relax at home, you have to make the rounds here, there and everywhere to fit everything all in. By the time you finally get home and are able to enjoy your recliner, you're too exhausted to really relish in it.

So remind me again...why do we go through all this each year??? Oh yeah, that's right...because it's CHRISTmas time!!! *grin*

Ha Ha Ha!! What a great post! And "ain't it the truth"?

We all look so forward to this "holiday" but cannot wait to be done with it!

Thankfully, CHRIST stays all year round!
