Nothing Out Of Nothing

After being off-line the past several days, I was so happy to get back on and be able to surf the net and catch up on things in the cyber world. However, I had to stop and ponder the things. The Internet is a wonderful tool to bring a wealth of information, take care of business, meet new people as well as just having some fun wasting time online. If you look at it, the Internet is really just a world where you can be who ever you want to be, all the while no one knows the real you. It's amazing how out of sort some people create themselves to be in comparison to who they truly are in real life. Now I am not saying that everyone online is promoting a false self out there but there are many who do.

What prompted me to ponder things was the soap opera style postings that have been going around, really since the time the Internet began. You might read one person's blog and they portray themselves as this sweet little mind-my-own business person, but then you see them delve into the soap opera world of posting with bashing another cyber person with "just" cause in their mind. It's the typical child play of he said/she said and I took offense (regardless if it was meant to offend them or not) and now they are going to "get back at them" by using their blog as a battle ground to wage war against the other person. Comments are left by individuals that have no more concern than the man in the moon about this persons issue with another, but...the commenter's just feel they have to put their 2 cents into this too. It's almost like they are forming a support group for each other. Everyone else wants to take on the offense of another (even when they don't know any of the people involved or the true situation behind things.) It just makes you laugh at the whole thing.

What's really funny to me is that the person who has gotten all bent out of shape over probably nothing, has now started a garden of weeds that has spread to others and now the person(s) that they were initially attacking have a growing garden of unknown enemies because of someone else's personal offense. However, if you were to talk to the person(s) that are/were the target of the attack, they are surprised by the nastiness of the offended and had no idea of what was going around about them online from this other person. In fact until someone brought it to their attention they hadn't seen the posts or known that there was an issue. The attacked has no idea what bug bit the offended, as there truly was nothing that they did to cause such childish behavior from the other person. Just like water off a ducks back, so too this whole nonsense has rolled off theirs. All the while, the one who was "offended" is still stewing in their own juices and harboring nastiness in their thought life and online life. But with all that they have written to share with the world...you get a much clearer picture of who this person really is outside of the fictitious image they have portrayed of them self online. It's like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are both contributing editors! But I digress.

So after an unplanned time away from the internet only to come back and see that somethings haven't changed around cyber-city, I have to shake my head and say..."Who really cares!?!" In relation to both the internet and real life I say this....If more people worried about their own life and stopped trying to stir the pot all the time, life would be a much better for many. Quit making nothing out of nothing, and work on something more productive.

Let me add my amen to these! Isn't it funny how some people would rather run a whispering campaign than go directly to the source and flat out ask for clarification?

Can you imagine how much better this world would be if we simply picked up a phone or keyboard and said, "That hurt my feelings." I can almost guarantee you that 99.9% of the time, the "hurter" didn't intend to cause harm, and will apologize profusely.

But it's much more fun to become the center of attention by crying about your supposed victimization...

Every one of us can spend a bit of time with Matthew 7:3-5 and Luke 6:41-42 learning how to be beam inspectors. The only "sides" we need to consider is being at the side of our Lord.

So very true! Thank you for the scripture references. We all need to be refreshed and reminded of these often.
