Asking For Advice Isn't Always Easy

“The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice” (Proverbs 12:15, NIV).

You may have a great idea or know exactly how to accomplish something or have it all figured out. Or you could just be wrong and not be able to see it. As moms we’ve learned to be master problem solvers; but as capable as we are, we can’t know everything all the time. Even when you think you’ve considered all the angles, don’t let pride keep you from asking somebody else’s opinion. Hey, if you’re brilliant, it’ll feel good to hear that from another person. On the other hand, if you’re about to make a really stupid move, it would be good to find out now rather than later.

Why is it that I always think my way is the right way? It may be fabulous, but it could always benefit from some improvement, right? Lord, train me to ask for other people’s opinions, and give me a teachable spirit so I can receive constructive criticism and be open to opposing ideas.

Truer words were never spoken. It never hurts to ask someone their opinion, not only could it help you, but you never know how much the person you ask might need the encouragement that you will give them by asking for their advice.

Ohmygoodness, you took the words outta my very own mouth, sugar!!!!! Squeeeeal! I am so judgmental and critical but last night I prayed for the Lord to show me my weaknesses (hoping I'll recognize the answer!) so I can work on them. I try and try but just can't get a handle on it though.
