Thoughts From The Outdoors

(images not our our yard, the were taken at a great nursery in our area)

The past few days I have been busy with yard and garden work. Neither of us have had time lately to weed or mow so things were in need of sprucing up. I just love our riding lawn mower. I now know what Hubby means by his yard time being his thinking time. As I mowed the property the LORD brought to mind a few study scriptures I had been relishing in. HE had lots to say and I was all ears to see and hear it all. There's just something about being outside with no interruptions that makes fellowship time with the LORD so easy to do.

As usual, you never know how much sun you've gotten until you get inside and cleaned up. Well, after a few days straight of working outdoors, I can say I have gotten my fair share of it. It was very timely that I saw the following tips from "The Old Farmer's Almanac" regarding home remedies for sunburn. So I thought I'd pass them on as a little reminder for us...

  • To ease a mild sunburn, pat skin with cider vinegar, witch hazel, or wet tea bags.
  • Bathe a sunburned face in buttermilk. It’s great for the complexion, too.
  • Add about a cup of baking soda to a bath filled with lukewarm water, and submerge sunburned areas.
  • Remember that water doubles your sun exposure. Apply sunscreen under your eyes and chin to ward off reflected light.
  • Wear a hat!
