What's In The Jar?

This weekend I am planning to deep clean the bathrooms and kitchen. Yes, they get their weekly scrub down and daily tidy but it's time to give them the once a month deep clean. Before I start though I needed to make sure I had all of my cleaning products. Don't you just grimace when you start something and find you are out of your cleaning product in mid stream!?! I sure do. So to avoid being caught off guard, I wen through my inventory. It was a good thing I did this because lo and behold I was out of my counter cleaner. Instead of running out to the store to pick up a bottle, I simply made my own. This saved me gas money, driving time and shopping money. Why buy it when you can make it!

Homemade Counter Scrub

1/2 c. washing soda
1/4 c. liquid dish soap (w/bleach or antibacterial style)

In a small bowl combine soda ingredients. Gradually add in dish soap a little at a time. Stir after each addition. You are looking for the mixture to become blended and moist but still grainy in texture.

To use: Place a small dab of cleaner onto area to be cleaned. Using a damp cloth or paper towel, clean area as you normally would. Rinse cloth (or replace with fresh paper towel) and rinse clean. Wipe area with damp, rinsed cloth.

I did notice though, that any left over mixture hardened on me. So instead of storing now, I just make up a small batch and use it that day for my cleaning tasks. It's so easy to make that I don't mind making my batch as I need it. In the meantime, for easy cleanups and touch ups, I simply pull out my trusty bottle of Homemade All Purpose Cleaner spray.

What a great way to clean. We do baking soda and vinegar a lot! And we love it!

I, too, stumbled on your site... I am VERY interested in your layout...anyway you'd share how you set up to link from your sidebars to various "categories" of recipes? This is a great way to organize a blog. I have yet to visit ALL your recipes, but especially like the crockpot & soup recipes so far. These cleaning tips are also great!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet comment. I hope you will visit often.

In response to your question on category links...it was really easy.

First create a new post like you normally would but only here you will add your links to whatever it is, in my case "soup recipes." Once you have that done, go ahead and publish it.

Then go to your layout section and click on "add photo." Here you will upload your image as usual, then where it has the section in it to add a link, paste in the link from the post that you just made with your list of recipes and such. Title your photo (i.e. soup recipes, etc.) Then save it.

Voila! There you have it! Super easy. If I can do it, anyone can. *grin*
