Freedom Ride

Have you ever had one of "those" days where you think to yourself, "If only I could get away from everything for a little while!" The past several months have brought a myriad of those kind of days. So my dear sweet Aunt & I got in the vehicle this morning and "got away" from things. We ventured to the big city and had such a great time together. It felt so good for both of us to get time to have fun. We thought of nothing that 'needed' our attention. We didn't think on the 'what had to be done' issues. Simply put...this was our own sort of a sabbatical.

We made some major milestones for ourselves. First, let me give you a bit of background information...neither one of us drive deep into the big city on our own. We have everything we need in our 30 mile radius of smaller towns. But today we not only conquered one major highway to get to our destination but we took a totally different route through the big city to get back home. So we conquered two big highways! This may not seem like much to anyone else, but it was a big deal to us. *grin* Now we feel a little more confident in venturing out again and going other places in the big, rushed and harried city. Hmmm...what shall we plan on next!?!

W
e had an awesome lunch together and then did some shopping. Well, we oohed and awed more than we spent, which was a good thing. But we each picked up a few "gotta have that" items to bring back for souvenirs from our freedom trip.

I found a serving bowl that had a pour spout on it that called my name, and since it was only $9.99 I answered it's call. I also found 2 butter cream yellow throw rugs that were on sale for $6.99 each that jumped into my basket. I am thinking they will look great under our kitchen table. So it was a fun but inexpensive trip.

It's so nice to sit back and realize how special your family real is. To have an Aunt that I can spend time with like this is such a blessing. I just love my family!
