Seeds Of Heirlooms & Faith

The seeds have been soaked overnight and now are planted into seedling cups. I watered them with a light mixture of miracle grow liquid fertilizer, so now I wait and watch until they begin to sprout and grow. What an awesome feeling knowing that little bitty seeds can produce something so great as a tomato.

But when you think about it, the mustard seed is even smaller than a tomato seed. JESUS said in Matthew 17:20-21 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."

While it is true that even the smallest grain if faith will produce results, but just with anything, we must 'do something' with our faith -- we must exercise it. If you let something sit dormant and don't use it, things go to waste. This is true of our faith. If we don't exercise it and use it it will lay dormant and be of no use to us.

Just as with my tomato seeds, you have to prepare yourself. Now I know that we serve a great big GOD and that nothing is impossible for HIM, but it's so much nicer to know that I have spent time in HIS Word and know what the promises are that HE has for me. So when a situation or mountain is facing me, I am better equipped, equipped with the armour of the LORD to stand strong in my faith. My tomato seeds have been given the armour that I can give it to grow...they were soaked overnight to help hydrate them, I planted them in good soil, I gave them a good watering and fertilizing, they have been placed in the sunlight away from drafts, and I have prayed over them. As the days progress I will tend to them with watering as need be and any other care they may require to help nurture them along. Now when the right time comes for them to sprout they will have a good foundation to be able to press through that layer of soil above them and reach the other side.

When we lay out a good foundation for our faith, we are better prepared to handle the issues before us and press through to reach the other side, the side of victory that the LORD has prepared for us.

It was said the other day that what differentiates and heirloom plant from a hybrid is that heirloom seeds can be saved each years and the results of planting will always produce the same variety of plant. A hybrid seed can also be saved year to year but the results will vary from planting to planting. Hybrids have been altered in breeding, and as time goes on the plant will eventually revert back to what it originally came from. So most times you never have the same plant from year to year.

The same holds true to our faith. GOD'S Word is like the heirloom, it never changes or fails to be what it is...the ever living, never failing Word of the LORD. When we study and spend time with the LORD and in HIS Word we are never given something that will later change it's true identity. Isn't it great to know that what HIS Word says today will still remain the same next year or 20 years from now!?!
