Autumn Scentsy

While I love all things Fall...it's been an extremely busy time here lately. So I have only put out a few Autumn decorations in the house. One of my favorites is this Scentsy pumpkin warmer. I just adore it!

There's still plenty of time to get a few more pumpkins out but in the meantime, I am certainly going to enjoy this tiered pumpkin beauty.

The Princess Room

I did a little furniture rearranging in the Princess's room while I was working on the other bedroom.

That's her antique dresser she got last CHRISTmas, with her signature sign atop it.
Her bed is rod iron like Mommy's.

I especially love the crystal medallions hanging from her drapes.

She even let me share a space in there for sewing.

My sweet Princess is so sleepy. She's definitely ready for bed time.

Guest Room Makeover On Dime

After moving to my house 3 years ago this month, I have two out of my 4 bedrooms complete. Still need to do some wall art though. I have been wanting to get my larger guest bedroom in order for a bit now. A month or so ago, I blessed out with the bed frame & yesterday I got a steal on a mattress/box spring set. Mama gave me a set of brand new queen sheets last month she had that hadn't even been opened & a comforter. I picked up 2 nightstands for free from my Dad's old coworker back in the summer that they didn't need anymore.

Last Saturday I went to Kohl's just to see what they might have. I ended up getting a mattress pad for the bed....it was $59.99 marked down to $29.99. Then I had a $10 & $5 gift voucher. Plus 15% off the total purchase. Got 4 new pillows too. They were $11.99 on sale for $3.99. Plus a set of drapes reduced to $16 from $79.99. Only spent $43.09. I also bought a cute little $10 lamp from Family dollar to use on the night stand...So my total bedroom makeover only cost me $103.09 all together. I'm so proud of myself. Now comes the fun part....putting it all together!

As much as I dread to admit and show it...this was the room before...it was more of a storage/catch all room....

But as time progressed over the course of the night, this is what the room turned into...

Dixie Lee had to test the bed out and see if it was user friendly.

I do believe Dixie Lee gives the room her approval.

Dress-Away

Last month I went to a CHRISTmas open house at a local antique store. I had been there a few weeks before, and saw a dresser that I fell in love with. Well, being as I am, I hated to part with money, so I didn't buy it. I did look at it pretty hard though.

As it would happen, when I went back for the open house, there sat the dresser. This time it was on sale for a small percentage off. I contemplated it but decided against spending any extra money.Wouldn't you just know that the dealer of this particular item was present and saw me admiring it. We got to talking and one thing lead to another....needless to say, she gave me a really great offer that I couldn't refuse.
So here is my new lovely. It's in almost perfect condition. There's only a minor scratch near the foot of the dresser and a water ring style stain on the top of the dresser. The water ring can be easily sanded and re-varnished, so that's not a big issue.
I love the hide away style top drawer. How cool is this...the mirror is the original mirror and it's in great shape!

Here are some of the markings on the piece. We did a little reasearch on it & although it isn't as old as we would have liked it to be, it's still a great piece of solid wood furniture, that was a great price. The dovetail joints were also a big attraction to me. I just love my new dresser.
