Coming home tonight I spied something in a nearby neighbors trash. After further inspection & finding it in great shape (except for a little bend in the top basket) I decided this was something that I could certainly put to good use somewhere in the house. Thinking maybe in the craft room or laundry room. Yep, I'm not above trash picking! LOL

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

I went out to check the mail and lo and behold there was an unexpected package from in our mailbox. Oh how my heart skipped a beat when I saw the return address label was from Gooseberry Patch. In the midst of almost 100 degree temperatures, it suddenly felt like Christmas. I hurried into the house so I could open the package and see what treasure lay inside...

It was a copy of their newest cookbook, "Slow Cookers, Casseroles & Skillets." I completely forgot that I had a received a letter from GBP awhile back letting me know that I had another recipe published in one of their upcoming books and this was it. I have already thumbed through it and boy is it filled with lots of great recipes and tips. Not long back I received a copy of "Dinners on a Dime" and fell in love with it, but I think this new book is going to give it a run for it's money. Oh who am I kidding...I haven't found a GBP book yet that I didn't fall in love with.

I happened upon a wonderful site this afternoon that is chocked full of great information. This site is like a little piece of wonderful tucked inside the cyber-world. "The Path To Freedom: The Original Modern Urban Homestead" is pioneering a journey towards self sufficiency, one step at a time.

Amish Peace

If you have followed my blog, you will have noticed that I have a special place and interest in the Amish way of life. I love reading Amish literature, and cooking Amish recipes. I have been a reader of "A Joyful Chaos" for some time now and when I saw this mornings post for a give-a-way of the book, "Amish Peace," I knew I had to enter and share it with you.

"A Joyful Chaos" is a blog that I have been truly inspired by. The writings that are shared have been fun, informative, touching and inspirational. As a former member of the Amish, Joyful shares memories of growing up Amish and the journey that brought her to where she is today.
